Haitian-American soprano, Wooldjina Present, is currently pursuing her senior year at New World School of the Arts, under the tutelage of Jennifer Tipton.
A versatile artist, Present’s repertoire encompasses art song, opera, musical theatre, spirituals, and contemporary gospel. In October, she will perform in the Fall Voice Concert at the First Presbyterian Church.
The summer of 2019, Miss Present attended Washington National Opera’s Opera Institute and ArtsBridge Summer ArtSong where she concentrated on Italian art song and opera and solo classical vocal skills within the art song repertoire.
She has participated in masterclasses with Denyce Graves, Harolyn Blackwell, Julie Jordan Gunn, Nathan Gunn, Brian Zeger, among others. Her most recent performance includes soloist in the M-DCPS Bahamas Benefit Concert at Miami Arts Studio @ Miami Arts Studio 6-12 @ Zelda Glazer in Miami, FL.
Awarded numerous times, Miss Present won the Musically Advanced II Solo Art Song Category of the Florida Federated Music Clubs in 2019 and was awarded the “Most Outstanding Female Voice” award. She also placed finalist and was awarded “Broadway Bound” at the Schmidt Vocal Competition in 2019, and was awarded “Encouragement Award” at the Schmidt Vocal Competition in the previous year. She won the Senior I Vocal Solo Art Song, Vocal Solo Musical Theater, and Vocal Duet Art Song Senior category of the Florida Federated Music Clubs in 2018, and Junior III Vocal Solo Art Song category of the Florida Federated Music Clubs in 2017. Miss Present is the 2019 winner in the Classical High School Division of the Classical Singer Online Summer Competition.
She has received scholarships from Take Stock in Children Miami/Big Brother Big Sister Foundation, Schmidt Vocal Competition, Schmidt Vocal Institute, WNO’s Opera Institute, ArtsBridge Summer ArtSong, and the New World School of the Arts.
Miss Present is from and currently resides in Miami, Florida.
