Cyrus Kelawala, a Senior at Punahou School, began his piano studies at age 7 under the guidance of Dr. Wendy Yamashita. He was the winner of the 2019 Young Artist Hawaii State Music Competition. In 2020, he was 2nd Place winner of the Great Composers International Music Competition for Best Prokofiev Performance, and recently was selected as a finalist for the Osaka International Music Competition and placed 2nd for the Hawaii Regional Round. Besides piano Cyrus also plays violin with the Punahou Symphony Orchestra and previously played with the Hawaii Youth Symphony. As a compassionate musician, he has done several fund-raising events for the community (American Red Cross, AUW, HYS, SCCH). Cyrus has aspirations to be a professional pilot and enjoys traveling and playing tennis during his free time.
