Manou Magdalena Chakravorty
Manou Magdalena Chakravorty began her cello studies at the age of four. At the age of eleven she was in her first masterclass with Yo-Yo Ma. She studies with Richard Hirschl, Head of Strings at Roosevelt University and cellist in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Oleksa Mycyk of Northwestern University. Among many accomplishments, she was the winner of the DuPage Symphony Young Artist Auditions in 2018, a semi-finalist in the Xth International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in 2017 and received a Judges’ Distinction Award and First Place in the American Protégé International Concerto Competition in 2017. She has performed in Austria, Germany, India, Italy, Russia, Spain, Kazakhstan and in the U.S.A, including twice at Carnegie Hall. She was featured on WFMT classical radio in Chicago on the program "Introductions" in 2017 and is a sophomore at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools.
