Tempest was formed since 2016 in the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music program and has been coached by Miho Weber. Julie Karam, the first violinist, is a sophomore at the Bergen County Academies, Hackensack New Jersey. Amanda Chao, the second violinist, is an 8th grader at the Tenafly Middle School, Tenafly New Jersey. Noel Cho, the celloist, is a freshman at the Nutley High School, Nutley New Jersey. Santiago del Castillo, the violaist, is a senior at the Ridgewood High School, Ridgewood New Jersey. Individually they have been performing their instruments for more than 10 years.
The Tempest group is a Grand Winner in the 2017 National Young Artists Chamber Music and Ensemble Competition. The group has performed in the Weill Recital Hall-Carnegie Hall, CBS Sunday Morning show and local community venues.
