Chanse Morris, clarinetist, currently performs and teaches in the greater Houston area. He enjoys collaborating with other artists and is an advocate of new music. Chanse recently graduated from the Eastman School of Music receiving his Master of Music in Clarinet Performance and Literature. This past summer, he was a finalist for the 2020 International Clarinet Association’s Young Artist Competition. Previously, he was awarded second prize in the 2019 Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition and performed substitute clarinet with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. A native Texan, Chanse attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education. While there, he performed frequently in the UT-Austin Wind Ensemble under the direction of Jerry Junkin. Throughout his education, Chanse has had the opportunity to play for several well-known clarinetists such as Andrew Marriner, Steve Cohen, Alan Kay, and Michael Wayne. His primary teachers include Kenneth Grant and Jonathan Gunn.
