Vaibhav Mishra, 16 years old, is an 11th grader at West Laurens High School. He has been playing piano since a very young age under the tutelage of Mrs. Nancy Claxton. Vaibhav has participated in multiple piano competitions throughout his middle and high school years and has gotten Outstanding Performer (Highest Rating) at the Local and Region Auditions as well as Honorable Mention at the GMTA State Piano Competition. In addition, Vaibhav has gotten numerous Superior Ratings in the NFMC festivals for Theory, Solo, Concerto, and Hymn piano playing. Furthermore, Vaibhav has also received a 45-Gold Cup in the Solo NFMC Competition and won 3rd prize at the Rising Talents of Asia GCC International Music Competition. Moreover, Vaibhav is very interested in Music Theory and has received the Outstanding Theorist Rating in the GMTA Theory Test all throughout his high school. Vaibhav is also an avid composer and has been the 1st place winner of the GMEA Composition Competition.
In addition, Vaibhav plays tenors in his high school’s marching band, drum set for the jazz band, and serves as the 1st chair percussionist in the Wind Ensemble. Furthermore, he has played in the District Jazz Band, District Honor Band (2nd chair), and Region Honor Band (3rd chair) for multiple years throughout his high school. Other than music, Vaibhav is also involved in various leadership positions in his school’s Student Council, Beta Club, Anchor Club, and SkillsUSA while also excelling academically by being the Valedictorian of his class.
