The WCPE String Quartet is a North Carolina Chamber Music Institute leadership ensemble sponsored by WCPE, The Classical Station. Quartet members attend different high schools in Raleigh and Cary, North Carolina and enjoy getting together to rehearse and play in concerts and outreach events in the community. All members of the quartet play in their high school orchestras and some play in the Triangle Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. Individual members have received awards and achievements including 1st violinist in Nafme’s All-National Honors Ensemble, North Carolina Honors Orchestra (NCHO), 2nd place in the Great Composers Competition Best Mozart Competition, first place GFWC-NC District VI Arts Festival, and acceptance to the Governor’s School of North Carolina.
