Sophia Lin


An 8th Grader at Longfellow Middle School, Lin has been studying piano for 8 years and is a student of Dr. Marjorie Lee. In May 2019, she had her concerto debut with Amadeus Orchestra as the piano soloist. She performed at Young Artist Piano Musicale at George Mason University in January 2020. She was featured on abc7 News in December 2019.

In the current 2020 Virginia Music Teacher Conference, Lin has won the First Prize for all three competitions: MTNA Junior Piano Competition, Virginia State Competition and Virginia Concerto Competition.

Lin has won many piano competitions throughout the nation. She was the winner of Robert Spencer Concerto Competition, Ylda Novik Memorial Concerto Competition, Washington Universal Piano Competition, William-Knabe International Competition, East-Tennessee State University International Competition etc. and a Semifinalist for Lang Lang International Piano Competition.

Lin loves music and enjoys serving the community through performing. She is an active volunteer performed in many Community Centers, including the Kennedy Center, the National Institute of Health’s Hospital, and Senior Homes in Maryland and Virginia. Sponsored by the Tacy Foundation COVID-19 Project, she performed virtually for seniors, patients and medical staffs. Her music recording CDs were distributed to patients and seniors nationwide during this pandemic. A lover of mathematics, she is recognized in the Honor Roll for the American Mathematics Competitions and Gold Medals in national Math competitions.
