Mihilo Kato is currently a freshman at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA). She has been playing piano since she was four years old. During the past several years, Mihilo has participated in various competitions. For the MTAC Contemporary Festival, she's won the winner award consecutively for five years since 2016. In 2017, Mihilo placed 2nd at the CAPMT Romantic/Impressionistic Competition, and 1st place in 2018. She also participated in the SYMF competition in both 2018 (1st place in Open Baroque, 2nd place in Open Chopin, and 2nd place in Open Complete Classic Work) and 2019 (3rd place in Open Baroque, 2nd place in Open Solo.) From fall 2019 to spring 2020, just before quarantine, Mihilo was part of the Junior Chamber Music program, and her group was selected for the Honors Program. Mihilo takes lessons from Ms. Nobuyo Nishizaka twice a week, and has taken a few private lessons with Mr. Paul Roberts in Portland, Oregon as well. She has also taken three master classes, one with Mr. Sarkis Baltaian in 2017, another with Mr. Rufus Choi in 2018, and with Mr. Mark Richman in 2020. Other than piano, Mihilo enjoys singing, and was selected to be a part of the Southern California Vocal Association in 2018.
