Michelle Jung, cello pupil of Professor Bongshin Ko, is a freshman at California State University of Fullerton. Michelle has participated actively in a wide variety of musical activities including Cal State Fullerton Cello Choir, OCC Youth Orchestra (Principal), Valencia High School Sinfonia (Principal), and CODA Honor Orchestra to mention a few. In 2018, she was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall as the 1st-place winner of the American Protégé International Competition. She had also won prizes at the CAPMT State Solo Finals, International Grande Music Competition, CMC Music Competitions, and played Saint Saëns Cello Concerto No.1 as a featured soloist with the OCCYO. Her international invitations include Forum Musikae in Madrid, Spain in 2018, Summit International Music Festival in New York in 2017 where she played solo and chamber works, and successfully completed Intensive Cello Workshop. Michelle also continues to play leading roles annually at the Los Angeles Violoncello Society (LAVS) concerts and the Junior Chamber Music Ensemble series. Currently, Michelle has placed 1st at the ASTA Finals and will be advancing to State Finals in Fall 2020.
