Megan Liu


Megan Liu is 14 years old and currently a freshman at John Burroughs School in St. Louis, Missouri. Megan began learning piano at age of four, and has been studying piano under the tutelage of Ms. Zena Ilyashov for the past seven years. Megan has won various piano competition awards through the years, including 1st place winners of the MMTA (Missouri Music Teachers Association) State Competition in both 2017 and 2019, runner-up in 2018 and Honorable Mentions in 2014 and 2016. In 2019, Megan won first place in her age group of the St. Louis Area Music Teachers Association Young Artist Competition. In 2018, Megan won the 2nd place on US New Star Piano Competition by Composer. Megan also won the selection to participate in Masterclass presented by Dr. Thomas Rosenkranz from UMKC in 2019 and Masterclass by Professor Robert Plano from Indiana University in October 2020.

Megan also loves to play piano for multiple nursing homes around St. Louis area during Christmas time. Aside from piano, Megan also enjoys writing and playing competitive tennis, and won various USTA tournament trophies. She joined varsity tennis team at John Burroughs School this year, and her team won Missouri Class 3 State Girls Tennis Championship in October 2020.
