Mariel Capilla was born in 2006 in Xalapa, Veracruz [Mexico] into a family of five generations of professional musicians. She began her study of the violin at age 4 with her father David Israel Capilla and solfeggio with her mother Grecia García. She has received Masterclasses from various violin professors such as Emilia Chtereva, Roos van Well, Ramon Lemus, Carlos Egry, Adrian Justus, Camilo Acosta, Agnieszka Maklakiewicz, Katalin Sebestyén, Karen Aroutiounian and Igor Petruchevsky. She has performed in many different cities in Mexico, recently as soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Querétaro. Later on, she moved to Belgium where she continue her violin studies with the professor Thomas Van Haeperen in l'Académie de la Ville de Bruxelles.
In 2020 she won the first prize at the H. Vieuxtemps Competition in the Pizzicati Category and a honor mention in the International Leonid Kogan Competition.
