Jillian Smith

Jill Smith, 16, is a student of Dr. Irene Peery-Fox. Previous teachers include Cara Quinn and Sandra Peterson. A first-place winner in the Utah Music Teachers Association Concerto Competition, she performed in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square in March of 2019, and performed with various orchestras later that year as a winner of the Timpanogos Symphony Aspiring Musicians Competition and the Paradigm Concerto Competition. Other concerto competitions she has won include the American Fork Symphony Salute to Youth and the Utah Philharmonic Concerto Competition. She has also won second and third prizes at the Sandy Music Teachers Association Progressive Artists Festival and has received honorable mentions from the New England Piano Teachers Association, the American Fork Symphony, the Sandy Music Teachers Association, and the Music Teachers National Association.

A junior at Paradigm High School, Jill enjoys playing the viola in her school’s chamber orchestra and playing the piano in her school's jazz band. She loves the thrill of performing and being able to inspire people through music. When asked what she does in her spare time, Jill’s response is always the same: Practice! When she’s not practicing, Jill likes spending time with her friends and family, learning new songs on her ukulele, and making friendship bracelets.
