Jessica Blunt holds a Master of Music Studies (Opera Performance) and Bachelor of Music Performance (Voice) from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. A recipient of the Diane Wishart and Elizabeth ‘Bud’ Brown Scholarships, and the Patricia Lucas Music Achievement Award, Jessica’s operatic roles include Poulenc’s 'Les Mamelles des Tiresias' (THERESE); Ravel’s 'L’enfant et les sortileges' (LE FEU), Mozart’s 'Don Giovanni' (DONNA ELVIRA) and 'La finta giardiniera' (ARMINDA). A two-time recipient of the Henderson Traveller’s Scholarship, Jessica performed in 'Le nozze di Figaro' (LA CONTESSA) at the 2018 Mediterranean Opera Studio & Festival in Sicily, and 'Die Zauberflöte' (FIRST LADY) at the 2019 Manhattan Opera Studio, New York, and was thrilled to debut as a soloist at the studio’s opera gala at Carnegie Hall. In Australia, Jessica is a regular soloist for St Mary’s Cathedral’s Red Mass (2017-20). She performed in Operantics’ season of Strauss’ 'Die Fledermaus' (IDA) and in their original cabaret for the Sydney Fringe Festival. She was awarded third place in the JSRB Foundation’s inaugural Sydney Song Prize, adjudicated by Maestro Richard Bonynge, and was recently awarded the People’s Choice Prize at the 2019 Joan Carden Award. Also in 2019, she was soprano soloist in Handel’s ‘Messiah' at the Sydney Town Hall. In 2020, she performed with Opera Australia in their productions of 'Don Giovanni' (Sydney Opera House) and 'La Traviata' (Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour, sadly cancelled due to COVID19).
