Ethan Nylander is a sophomore at West Virginia University studying flute performance with Nina Assimakopoulos. Ethan previously participated in the DMEA All-State ensembles for six years, as well as the NAfME All-Eastern ensemble his senior year. He has participated in programs including Orford Musique, Governor’s School for Excellence, and the International Flute Symposium. Throughout Ethan’s freshman year at WVU, he regularly competed with his flute quartet, which won prizes in the WVU ChaMP Competition, the Kentucky Flute Association, and the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. He has also competed and won prizes in solo competitions, including 1st in both the 2019 West Virginia MTNA and 2020 COFA competitions. Ethan hopes to go on to study the flute in France and someday earn a professional position in a European Orchestra.
