Daniel Y. Kim


Daniel Y. Kim is a piano student of Wen-Yin Chan at Levine Music in Washington, DC and a 10th grade student at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, VA. He has been studying piano at Levine for 8 years. During his time there, he has studied music theory, jazz piano improvisation, and participated in chamber music ensembles. He was a student in their prestigious Honors Program and has been featured as a soloist and chamber musician at

Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, White House Concert Series at Decatur House, Levine Salon Series, Mexican Cultural Institute, and Embassies of France, Austria, and the Netherlands. Daniel has also performed as a soloist in a reception honoring the organizers and sponsors of the 11th Kids Euro Festival by request of the Austrian ambassador. As a performer he has won awards in solo competitions, including the 2019 Golden Key Music Festival, 2019 and 2017 Concert Artists International Virtuoso Competition, 2019 American

Protege International Piano and Strings Competition, 2018 Cogen Concerto Competition, and 2017 Marlin-Engel Solo Competition. He was a semi-finalist in the 2018 William Knabe International Young Artist Piano Competition and has received numerous Honorable Mention awards, including at the 2017 Achievement Awards Piano Competition, 2017 Young Musicians Inspiring Change International Competition, and 2016 Cogen Concerto Competition. In his free time, Daniel enjoys using his musical talent to bring joy to the community. He has performed as a piano accompanist with his school choir and music festivals and was a frequent

visiting pianist for the Early Childhood Music Education program at Levine Music. Daniel served as principal trumpet of his middle school honors band, and recently taught himself to play the melodica. He also enjoys composing original music for video games and catching up on the latest science news.
