Cheng Qian, 13, started learning piano at the age of 5 and showed his musical talent from early days. He began playing cello at the age of 6. Currently he is a Central Conservatory of Music Middle School student under the tutelage of Prof. Mu Zhu. He has also studied with Chongwu Wang. He has performed in masterclasses for such artists as Igor Gaverysh, Kiril Rodin, Markus stocker and Jesus castro balbi. He was awarded Golden Prize at the 2nd CCOM International String Music Festival. As the outstanding student, he participated in the 2019 New Year Gathering at the Great Hall of the People with Mula Na, principal of Central Conservatory of Music Middle School. He took part in the CCTV Music channel program <Happy Music Talents> recording with CCOM Middle School Chorus in 2019.
Aside from music, he enjoys reading and swimming.
