Hi. My name is Benjamin Kim and I'm a 15 year old student at Piedmont High school. I have been playing the violin for 9 years now. I began learning to play the violin at the age of 6 and since then have obtained my interest in music. The piece that I am playing is the Mendelssohn violin concerto. It is one of my favorite pieces of all time and while it is a very intricate and difficult piece, I enjoyed practicing and learning it. Over the course of my years playing violin, I have accomplished things such as entering the Junior Bach Festival in the Bay area multiple times, winning the Etude Club competition in 2018 (3rd place not first. I'm sad too) winning the concerto competition at Holy Names University in 2015, and the best "stage presence" award at the Young Artists concerto competition in 2014. I live in Oakland, California with my brother, mom, and dad who have immensely helped my ability to play the violin as well as my teacher who of course played the biggest role as my guide through music.
