Beckett has been studying classical guitar for five years. He began his studies at the Talent Education Suzuki School (TESS) in Norwalk CT, studying with Meredith Connie. He continued with Dave Veslocki at the Connecticut Suzuki Guitar Academy (CSGA) until his family moved to Cincinnati in 2017. Beckett currently studies with Jeremy Collins and continues his Suzuki studies with Saul Meyerson-Knox. Beckett has his sights on playing all nine Suzuki guitar books, following in the footsteps of several of his CSGA pals.
Beckett has performed in a number of locations around CT and NY, including the top of One World Observatory and Manhattan's Carnegie Hall. Beckett had the honor of playing in an ensemble with Andrew York at Carnegie Hall, for the US Premiere of York’s Singularity. In 2018 Beckett was the youngest member of the Guitar Foundation of America's (GFA) Youth Orchestra, at age 9.
Beckett earned third place (11 and younger) at the 2019 Boston Guitarfest and played a solo on stage in the NEC’s famed Jordan Hall. In 2020 Beckett placed 3rd in elementary division of the Annual Kithara Project Virtual Guitar Competition, and was a finalist in the youth division of The 2020 Altamira International Guitar Competition.
In addition to guitar, Beckett began studying the cello a couple of years ago and earned second chair in the Jr. Youth Orchestra at Interlochen last summer. He loves to draw, play soccer and can often be found with his nose in a book!
