Athina Chen is 16 years old and a junior at Henry M. Gunn High School with Davis Law. This is her 7th year playing in the Golden State Youth Orchestra and is currently in the first violin section of their Senior Symphony. She went on a two week tour with GSYO to Europe in the summer of 2019. She received first place at the US International Open Music Competition and San Francisco Innovative Music Competition. She also was a prizewinner at the American Protege Concerto Competition and Silicon Valley Music Competition. In addition, Athina enjoys playing violin for senior citizens at retirement homes. Aside from violin, she is an avid golfer and plays competitively on her high school team.
