Allyson Kreider

 


Allyson is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, studying with Dr. Erika Boysen. She has participated in summer festivals such as Carnegie Mellon’s Consummate Flutist, West Virginia University’s International Flute Symposium, West Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts, UNCG Flutefest, and Aria (International Summer Academy for Advanced Music Studies). In addition, she is the recipient of MTNA's Regional Division Woodwind Competition Honorable Mention in 2016, and was awarded First Chair in the WVMEA All-State Band, while also participating in West Virginia University’s Honor Band for several years. Finishing her sophomore year, Allyson has been a member of the UNCG Symphony Orchestra, UNCG Wind Ensemble, and the UNCG Symphonic Band. She has performed and competed for numerous esteemed international flutists, such as Lorna McGhee, Alberto Almarza, Syoo-Kyung Park, Bonita Boyd, John Thorne, Aaron Goldman, David Houston, Nathalie Joachim, and Sydney Carlson. As a soloist, Allyson performed the Chaminade Concertino with her high school symphony orchestra during her senior year. She is also a recipient of the Mark Flint Memorial Scholarship for the Advancement of Music in 2018, and was granted $5,000 dollars to pursue a Music Performance degree. Allyson’s teachers include Dr. Erika Boysen and Nina Assimakopoulos.
