Joanna Hsieh studies flute with Isabelle Chapuis in Los Altos, California. At age 13, she performed as a soloist with the Blach Intermediate School orchestra at Davies Symphony Hall. She has been playing flute for 9 years and currently plays in the Los Altos High School Wind Ensemble and the Golden State Youth Orchestra Senior Symphony. She took first place in the Areon Summer Flute Institute Competition in 2018 and the 2019 MTAC VOCE Los Altos Branch competition. She also participated in the National Flute Association High School Flute Choir in 2019 and the Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in 2020, as well as CASMEC All-State in 2020.
