Jameel Maayah, age 14, was born in California, and is now a student at Walton High School. He has played piano for five years, and violin for four. Studying under Dr. Adriana Janse van Rensburg in Atlanta, Georgia, he won Outstanding Performer in the Atlanta Romantic/Impressionistic piano competition. He was selected to perform in the Young Performers Recital series in Atlanta, and has performed in various local and community recitals and other city-wide events. He actively competes in national and international piano competitions including the Crescendo competition, North International Competition and the WPTA Finland International. He is one of the winners in the recent American Protégé International Piano Competition and has received an invitation to perform his debut solo performance in Carnegie Hall this summer. Jameel was part of the Dickerson Middle School Chamber Ensemble, and is now a part of the Walton Philharmonic Orchestra. He is a gifted mathematician and valuable asset to the Walton Math Team, having won an award in the 2019 Mathcounts Chapter Competition, and participates with his school in mathematics competitions.
