Eli Sun, nine years old from Overland Park, Kansas, started to play the piano when he was six years old with Mr. Joseph Myers. He continues his piano study under Ms. Ying-Yu Emily Yeh since fall 2018. He won the 1st Place in Grades 1-2 Group in 2018, and the 2nd Place in Grades 3-4 Group in 2019 in the Kansas Music Teachers Association State Honors Competition. Eli also received the 3rd Place from the Kansas City Music Teachers Association Junior Concerto Competition in 2020. In 2018, Eli participated in the Kansas City Music Teachers Association Fall Festival and was awarded the Highest Honors with Special Merit. Besides music, Eli also enjoys reading, playing football, Taekwondo, and volunteering in community service. He has won the Gold Medal and Bronze Medal in the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2019 and 2018. He has attained Taekwondo Black Belt First Dan.
