Doyoon (Dean) Kim

 


Doyoon Kim is currently a high school sophomore living in California. He first started playing the piano and soon picked up the violin at his elementary school’s orchestra. Since then, he has won prizes at several piano and violin competitions including Southwestern Youth Music Festival (SYMF), Rhapsody Young Musician Competition, Clarice Chaplin Music Scholarship Competition and American Protege Competition. He was also named the 1st prize winner of the Southwestern Youth Music Festival's Young Pianist division and made his debut with the festival orchestra under conductor Frances Steiner playing Beethoven Piano Concerto No.2. He was the concertmaster of his middle school orchestra, winning 1st place at both the San Francisco Heritage Festival and The Parks Festival at Disneyland. He also has performed Mozart Violin Concerto No. 5 as a soloist. In addition, he performs in a string ensemble, giving performances at senior centers and hospitals. In his free time, Doyoon enjoys music production and sound design. He hopes to continue pursuing his passion for music in the future.
