Kuan Liu


Kuan Liu, born in January 2004 in Guangdong, China, began his cello trainings with Ms. Elena Abrosimova, Head of Music at Green Oasis School where he studied between 2010 and 2018. He also learned music theory with Prof. Chiu Siu Ling, Organ Mentor of Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Since 2018, he has studied at Vanke Meisha Arts Academy under the tutelage of Ms. Yiqiu Chen. In addition, he has participated in the master classes by Sheherbakov, Ulf Tichbriek, Sven Holger Philipsen, David Ying, Marina Warsaw-Fan, etc.

Highlights of his competition awards are 2nd Prize in 2019 Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition Brussels, 2nd Prize in 2018 Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition New York, 2nd Prize in 2018 Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition Salzburg, 1st Prize in 2018 Malta International Music Competition Shenzhen, 1st Prize in The 5th Hong Kong Music Festival Shenzhen, and 2nd Prize in the 10th Zhongxin International Music Competition Singapore.

His public appearances from 2016 to 2019 include the Winners’ Concert at Studio Recital Hall at Centre for Fine Arts of Brussels, Professor Ulf Tichbriek’s Cello Solo Concert, Prof. Keiko Urushihara’s String Quartet Concert, Final Concert in Euro Music Festival at Halle Germany, “Solo and Chamber Concert” at VMAA, Shenzhen, guest cellist at Organ Concert in Shenzhen Concert Hall, Winners’ Concert at Carnegie Hall in New York, Winners’ Concert at Mozarteum in Salzburg, Chamber Orchestra and Solo Concert in Casamalggiore International Music Festival in Italy, and performance with Saint Petersburg Chamber Orchestra in Russia.
