From Pleasanton, California, 16-year-old Andrea Wang early on showed her musical talent and passion. She has studied piano for 10 years with Zita Sándor and cello for 7 years with Paul Rhodes. Andrea has won many competitions, including 1st place in United State Open Music Competition Concerto Competition in 2014 and 2017; 2nd place in the same competition in 2015; 4th place in MTAC Branch Piano Competition in 2019, and was selected as a recitalist in Junior Bach Festival in 2019 and 2020. She is currently the Principal Cellist in Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra, and has appeared in numerous solo, chamber music and orchestral concerts. She attended the Sequoia Chamber Music Workshop in the summer of 2018 and 2019, and was accepted by the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, the Interlochen Arts Camp and the Philadelphia International Music Festival for the summer of 2020.
Besides music, Andrea enjoys origami, reading, writing, learning foreign languages, fine arts, computer coding, among many others.
