Alex Cismaru is 13 years old and started playing piano at the age of 6, at the Conservatoire de Lausanne in Switzerland.
After he moved to the USA with his family in 2015, he continued to study piano with his new teacher, Katie Gueorguieva-Ledford. Katie truly inspired him and nurtured his passion for piano even further.
Alex won first place at the 2020 Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition, third place at the 2019 American Protege International Competition of Romantic Music, third place and fourth place at the 2019 and 2020 International US Open Music Competition in Oakland, California. Alex completed Level 6 of the Certificate of Merit Program, and participated in several piano recitals and school band concerts in San Jose and Los Gatos, California.
In his spare time Alex enjoys learning new songs on the piano and saxophone, playing tennis and solving computer programming problems.
