Adeline Yu


Adeline is a sophomore at Poolesville High School in the Science, Math, and Computer Science program. She has been playing violin since she was 4 years old, and has been a member of the prestigious Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras for 8 years, both in orchestras as well as chamber groups. She has also been appointed concertmaster or co-concertmaster multiple times. As an individual and as part of a group, she has been an award-winner in various competitions and festivals. She especially enjoys making music with others, and her string quartet was invited to play at a masterclass and inaugurating reception. Her piano trio participated in the 2018 National Gospel Music Competition, they were the gold winner in the chamber category, and were named Best of Best out of all the participants. They were invited to play at Carnegie Hall. Additionally, Adeline was invited to participate in the UNSTRUNG Ensemble of Montgomery College, MD, as well as the Avanti Orchestra Masterwork Festival of the Friday Morning Music Club, DC’s premier producer of free classical music.

Adeline enjoys coaching younger kids in violin, and has also participated in various community outreach events, including performing at nursing homes, hospitals, fundraising concerts, etc. In her free time, she likes to read books and magazines, travel, drink bubble tea, hang out with her friends, and occasionally bake.
