Skyler Covert


Skyler Covert is a Cleveland-based violinist studying under Joan Kwuon. A North Florida native, she studied with Dr. Janna Lower of the University of Florida for 8 years. She is currently a junior at the Cleveland Institute of Music pursuing a Violin Performance major, as well as other academics; she is also completing a Music Theory major with a minor in Vocal Performance and Cognitive Science (Case Western Reserve University).

As a soloist, Skyler has been featured with numerous orchestras; most recently, she played the Sibelius Violin Concerto with Ocala Symphony Orchestra’s for their 2019 concert series. In 2017, she played the Brahms Violin Concerto with North Florida Symphony Orchestra and will return to play Chausson’s Poeme this April. Also a passionate chamber musician, Skyler was featured in the “Best of Roundtop Music Festival 2019 Chamber Music” concert as the first violin of Schubert’s beloved “Trout” Quintet. This year, Skyler progressed through the state and division levels of the Music Teacher’s National Association’s 2020 competition, and will represent Ohio in the National Finals this March.

Skyler enjoys giving creative, themed violin/ voice recitals which often include original arrangements and compositions. Desiring to share the beauty of classical music, she frequently gives volunteer and educational recitals for children and elderly audiences alike. Above all, Skyler wishes to refresh souls and to glorify God with the wonderful gift of music.
