Kayla Lang
Kayla Lang, 15, started violin with Marcia Lier, a Suzuki violin teacher when she was 3 year old. She developed her technical skills and appreciation of the violin repertoire under the teaching of Trudy Larson, and Fudeko Takahashi. Since 7, she has been playing Christmas concerts at Sutton Hill nursing home and Haitian children benefit concert in the spring every year. In her eighth grade year, she raised additional funding for Partners in Development through her role in the student council at the Pike School.
She is currently a 10th-grader at Phillips Academy. At Phillips Academy, she plays in both the school's symphony orchestra and chamber groups. Outside music, she enjoys her academics and takes accelerated STEM and Latin courses. She also plays on inter-scholastic field hockey, swimming and water polo teams.
