Kashyap Prasad, age 13, is currently a student of Dr. Christina Tio , at the Music Institute of Chicago, and previously studied with Mrs. Betty Benton. He began studying piano at the age of 6.
He participates often in Sonata and Sonatina festivals winning the Gold medal in the 2017 NSMTA (Northshore Music Teachers Association) Sonatina festival. In 2018, he won a Silver Medal in the same festival. In 2019 he won a gold medal in the Naperville Music Teachers Association. In 2020, he won gold in the Chicago Area Music Teacher Association Sonata festival.
In 2019, he won first place in the Elementary age group at the NSMTA Piano competition
Kashyap has been selected to play at MTNA masterclass with Dennis Alexander to be held in March 2020. Kashyap has recently been selected to play at the Suzuki American association conference that is to be held in the spring in Minneapolis.
In 2015, he completed the AIM level 2 Music examination, and has completed successfully both his ABRSM Grade 5 practical and theory exams.
Kashyap is a student at Forest Bluff Montessori, in Lake Bluff, IL and demonstrates the love for learning, which essentially forms the core of who he is. He practices diligently, always showing the grit and perseverance needed to accomplish a piece. In addition to his music, Kashyap plays for a soccer team in Lake Forest, IL. He loves tennis as well among other things. His leisure time is spent reading, hiking with his dog Kumin.
