Elsa Dougherty
Elsa Dougherty, soprano, is a senior music major at Lewis & Clark College. At Lewis & Clark, she studies voice with Susan McBerry and serves as soprano section leader in Cappella Nova chamber choir. In Portland, she is the soprano section leader of the St. James Lutheran Church choir where she has sung in major works such as Bach’s St. John Passion and Handel’s Messiah. Ms.Dougherty has also soloed in Ralph Vaughn William’s Dona Nobis Pacem and W.A. Mozart’s Mass in C minor with the Lewis & Clark College Orchestra. In competitions, she has placed in both the NATS Classical Auditions and the NATS Musical Theatre Auditions (Cascade Region). A lover of theatre, Ms. Dougherty had the pleasure of playing Mrs. Lovett in the Lewis & Clark College production of Sweeney Todd in 2018. Finally, in the summer of 2019, she had the opportunity to work with Ghenady Meirson at the Russian Opera Workshop in Philadelphia, which is where her love of Russian vocal music began.
