Eliana Shin

Eliana Shin is 15 years old and has been playing the cello for over eight years. She studied with Irene Sharp for six years, performing at monthly masterclasses and attending workshops. At age 14, she started taking lessons from Eric Sung at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she also took musicianship and chamber performance classes as part of the pre-college program. She began studying with Jonathan Koh recently.

Eliana has been playing with Peninsula Youth Orchestra for five years, and as co-principal for the past two years. She toured multiple European countries with them in the summers of 2017 and 2019. The last two summers, she played with KAMSA Youth Symphony Orchestra. She has played advanced chamber music through various workshops and has won solo awards at competitions, including Korea Times and Junior Bach. Most of all, Eliana loves collaborating with other young musicians, whether it's bringing a new composer's work to life or having jam sessions with her band.

She is currently working on the Echo Project, a program dedicated to bringing music to those with memory loss and exploring the use of music as medicine.
In school, Eliana is a staff writer for newspaper, a director for video production, and is part of JV diving. She also enjoys working as a research intern and being active in her parish's youth ministry.
