Jannina Eliana Peña


Jannina (Janna) Eliana G. Peña is a Filipina pianist who has won top prizes in her country including 1st prize and Best in Contest Piece in the PTGP Beethoven Competition, 2nd prize in the National Music Competition for Young Artists and 2nd prize in the PTGP Etude Competition, among others. She has given solo concerts at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the National Arts Center. She has also performed as soloist with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and the Manila Symphony Orchestra. Janna is regularly invited to perform in Philippine national music and piano festivals, as well as on live radio. Aside from the Philippines, she has performed in concert halls of Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, and Indonesia. She also enjoys engaging herself in chamber music and collaborations with other musicians and artists of different fields. In fact, the Peña-Akromova Piano Duo recently won the Delray Prize of the 2018 Lynn Chamber Competition.

Highly interested in music education, she has been teacher trained and presently teaches in the Suzuki Method. Also as a musician who strongly believes in the importance of community engagement, she has taught in various workshops and outreach programs such as the National Rondalla Workshop, Developing Youth Leadership Through the Arts, the Children’s Arts Fest 2014 & 2016 where she taught street children, a 3-day Music Appreciation workshop in an urban poor community, and a week-long arts and music camp held in Tondo, a slum of Manila. She was also the assistant director of the first Makiling Music Festival.

She graduated valedictorian at the Philippine High School for the Arts, under the tutelage of Prof. Carmencita Arambulo and is a recipient of the CCP’s MARIA scholarship award. She is currently a sophomore studying with Dr. Roberta Rust at Lynn University’s Conservatory of Music.
