Hyemin Kim


Award-winning soprano Hyemin Kim was born in the Changwon province of South of Korea in 1994. She began her voice studies at the age of 18 with Yeonra Kim as her first teacher.

She took top honors at the Global Whole Country (2016), Spirit of Korea (2016), and KSME (2012) international voice competitions. She tours regularly throughout the South of Korea.

In addition to her work as a soloist, Ms. Kim enjoys collaborating with other musicians through both concert and operatic work. She has performed with Sinfonia Orchestra, Keimyung University Orchestra, and Jinhae Naval port, as well as Masan Music Association where she had the opportunity to perform for ministers of the South of Korea.

As an undergraduate, she majored in Voice, Music Education and earned a second-degree certificate for Arts and Culture Education. She worked for a management company for a year as a manager for Hyejung Kang who is one of the famous Korean opera singer.

She is a second year Master’s student at The Mannes School of Music. Previous roles include Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Sandmännchen (Hänsel und Gretel) and Lola(Cavalleria Rusticana). She sang 1st Nursemaid in Mannes Opera’s Street Scene and Miles in Turn of the screw.

Hyemin Kim holds a Bachelor of Voice degree from the Keimyung University in South of Korea. She is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in voice with Amy Burton, Ted Taylor and Peiwen Chen at the Mannnes School of Music / The New School where she expects to graduate in 2020.
