Beatrice O'Brien


Beatrice O’Brien studies piano under Dr. Chia-Lin Yang.

Beatrice began playing piano at the age of ten, and since 2019 has been a student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College program. There, she receives chamber coaching directed by Hang Li, is a member of the choir, and takes musicianship classes as well as her private coaching with Dr. Chia-Lin Yang. Beatrice has completed Certificate of Merit with honors through to Level 7. She was also a winner of the 2018 CAPMT Ensemble Festival on piano four-hand, and a Marin Music Chest 2019 Scholarship winner. In the summer of 2019, Beatrice was selected to participate in the Dominican Chamber Music Camp. There she had small ensemble masterclasses with Nadya Tichman (Associate Concertmaster of the San Francisco Symphony), Wayne Roden, (Violist in the San Francisco Symphony), Eric Sung (Principal Cello of San Francisco Ballet Orchestra), and June Choi Oh. Recently, Beatrice came third place in the international Best Mozart Performance Competition under the Great Composers series.

Along with piano, Beatrice enjoys playing the cello. She was an active member of the Marin Symphony Youth programs for three years in which she was principal cellist of the Crescendo Orchestra in 2018 and participated in multiple masterclasses led by Midori, Ga Hyun, and Zuill Bailey through both Crescendo and the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra. In the summer of 2019, she toured Prague, Vienna, and Budapest with the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra directed by Ann Krynitsky.

Beatrice is a sophomore at Redwood High School.
