Max Rong, 15, from Overland Park, Kansas, has been playing piano for 11 years under Ms. Ying-Yu Emily Yeh’s tutelage. Max participated in the Steinway Junior Piano Competition and received Bronze Medal in 2019. He was awarded First Prize in the International Music Competition “Paris and London’ Grand Prize Virtuoso duet division in 2019. In 2017, Max received first prize in the Great Composers International Competition, The Music of America Competition ensemble division. He was named the first place winner in piano duet division in KMTA State Honors Competitions and received the Highest Honors with Special Merit in KCMTA Fall Festival in 2012. Max participated in the Mid-America Music Association Music Festival and received 2nd place in 2012 and 2015, and was chosen Outstanding Young Performer in piano duet division in 2012 and 2014. Besides piano, Max also plays violin at Kansas City Youth Symphony.
