Roman Holder
Roman Holder is a member of the University of South Carolina’s saxophone studio, under the tutelage of Dr. Clifford Leaman. He has received various honors, including Winner of the 2018 Carolina Youth Symphony Senior Solo Competition, 1st Prize at the 2018 SCBDA Master Recital Competition, alternate at the 2018 South Carolina MTNA Senior Woodwind Competition, member of the 2018 SC All-State Jazz Band, and has been named Outstanding Soloist at the SC Jazz Festival. Mr. Holder currently performs with the USC’s Wind Ensemble, Left Bank Big Band, and in the saxophone quartet and jazz combo settings. He has performed in masterclasses for renowned musicians including Dr. Otis Murphy, Dr. Robert Young, the Imani Winds, and the Akropolis Wind Quintet. Mr. Holder has had opportunities to perform internationally, in venues including St. Peter’s Basilica, Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, the Piccolo Spoleto Festival, and various others. Outside of his studies, Mr. Holder enjoys playing gigs, being with family and friends, and spending time with his dog, Maximilian.
