Jimin Kim
Jimin Kim, a senior at Phillips Academy Andover in Massachusetts, began playing the cello at age seven. Since elementary school, she has participated in her school’s orchestras and has also been an active member in several chamber groups. She played in California’s All-State Orchestra. Jimin performed as a soloist at London’s Hyde Park during the 2012 Olympics and the Kennedy Center. When she lived in California, she volunteered in Santa Ana to introduce kindergarten and elementary school students to music. She now sits as principal cellist in her high school's two orchestras. She enjoys spreading the joy of music to other people and continues to volunteer her time to community engagement programs related to music.
