Oboist Daniel Choi was born in New York of the United States of America in 2005 and began to play the oboe at age ten. He has won several awards, including Third Place in the 2019 92Y Concerto Competition, First Place in the 2018 Young Artist Competition, Second Place in the 2018 Camerata Competition, First Place in the Vivo Youth Competition in 2016 and Silver Medal in the Winners' Concert, First Place in the International Grande Music Competition in 2016, First Place in the American Protege Competition in 2016, and Gold Medal in the Young Maestro Competition in 2017 as well as the Best performance Prize at the Winners' Concert. He began to attend Juilliard Pre-College at age twelve. Daniel also attends Riverdale Country School in New York. He enjoys playing oboe because he is fascinated by its uniquely poignant, warm, and shimmering sound. Furthermore, it serves as an outlet for him to strive to express the emotions and ideas of various composers.
