Rachel Thompson
Rachel Thompson graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2016 where she studied clarinet performance under the instruction of Sue Newsome. Her studies included a semester exchange at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna where she studied with Vienna Philharmonic principal clarinettist Ernst Ottensamer. Currently Rachel has a music teaching studio and works at a number of local schools as well as being a freelance musician.
In 2017 Rachel was awarded the winner of the NSW Doctors Orchestra Sydney Eisteddfod Instrument Scholarship and was a finalist in the Fine Music Young Virtuoso Award. This year Rachel is going to Austria for a chamber music summer school, AlpenKammerMusik. Right from a young age Rachel has loved working with other musicians and has been a member of numerous ensembles including Sydney Youth Orchestra, Sydney Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony and NSW Ambulance Concert Band. She is currently a member of the NSW Corrective Services Band. Rachel also has an interest in musical theatre and has played in a number of local amateur productions.
