David Gatien, from Bellevue, WA (USA), is 10 years old and studies piano with Dr. Nancy Jang. At the age of six, and just ten months after he started learning piano, David performed in his first piano competition, the Chopin Foundation of the USA Northwest Council Competition (NW Chopin), and won a Gold Medal. Since then, David has received several top performance awards and distinctions in local and international competitions, including Gold Medals in the 2019 and 2020 NW Chopin Competitions; Gold Medal in the 2019 Seattle International Piano (SIPF) Virtuoso Festival; First Prize in the 2020 American Protege International Piano and Strings Competition; and Gold Medal in the 2020 Seattle International Piano (SIPF) Classical Viennese Festival, among others. He is a recipient of the SIPF Excellence in Musical Arts and has been selected as an Honors Recitalist for the last four years in a row by the Washington State Music Teachers Association, Eastside Chapter. David made his Carnegie Hall debut last summer, and has been invited to perform there again later this year.
