Rhys Moon
Rhys Moon, 14, started learning piano at the age of 5. He attends Palos Verdes Peninsula High School and is a freshman. He was the 2nd Prize winner of the MTAC South Bay Scholarship Competition and a two-time finalist of the Complete Works Audition at the Southern California Junior Bach Festival. He also was the 2nd Prize winner of the California Association of Professional Music Teachers Sonata Competition for the South Bay Branch. Additionally, he won 1st and 4th place in 2 respective categories in the 2018 Southwestern Youth Music Festival. He received the Grand Prize at the 47th Annual Korea Times Music Festival, performing at the Korean Cultural Center in Los Angeles. Recently, Rhys was awarded the 2nd Prize at the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition, and will perform at Carnegie Hall, as well. Outside of piano, he enjoys competing on the debate team and singing on the choir at school.
