Anika Veda
Anika Veda, 14, currently studies under Hideko Amano and has been playing flute for five years. She has received several awards and accolades including Honorable mentions in the 2019 Crain-Maling CSO Young Artist Competition, the 2019 CYSO Philharmonic Orchestra Concerto Competition, the 2019 DePaul Concerto Competition and 2019 Society of American Musicians Competition. She recently won First Place at the American Protege Music Talent Competition and has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall later this year. She is also the recipient of the 2019 Crain-Maling CSO Young Artist Competition Camp Scholarship. She won first place in the Granquist Music Competition in 2017. She recently performed in Kyle Dzapo's masterclass organized by the Chicago Flute Club.
Apart from being a soloist, Anika is currently a member of CYSO’s Philharmonic Orchestra, where she is also part of a woodwind quartet, and was previously in Midwest Young Artist’s Orchestra Program for three years. She was in the Illinois District 7 ILMEA Junior Band in 2016 and 2017, and was second chair in 2017. Anika is also skilled on the violin, Indian Flute, and in Carnatic Vocal (Indian Classical) Music. She is a Freshman in High School and enjoys being a part of her school’s Junior Varsity Scholastic Bowl team.
