Andrew Lu, 17, is a junior at St. Xavier High School. He has been playing the piano for eleven years and currently studies piano with Dr. Nozomi Yamaguchi at the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Andrew is a two-time first place winner in the Tri-State Piano Concerto Competition and has participated in the Overture Awards festival for the past three years. Representing piano for the CCM preparatory department, Andrew has performed in many showcases including the University of Cincinnati's Moveable Feast. He has won second place in the CCM preparatory department competition as well as scoring superior ratings every year in Ohio MTA-Southwest and Dallas MTA audition festivals. Andrew has also participated in three district honor bands and as well as the Ohio State Honor Band for the bassoon. He has been a member of the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra for bassoon and has performed as the keyboardist for St. Xavier’s jazz band. Aside from music, Andrew swims for both the Cincinnati Marlins and the St. Xavier Aquabombers. He also enjoys learning languages and photography.
