Abby Harris


Abby Harris (Abigail Grace Harris) is in the eighth grade and lives in New York City. She is a composer and she studies piano performance and theory with Karine Koroukian, and music composition with the composer Tamar Muskal. She participates in the Leschetizky Association recital series. Her compositions have won first place in the junior division of the Piano Explorer Composition Competition, a bronze medal in the junior division of the Hal Leonard Composition Competition, and this year, division three first place NY State, and a Northeast Pierson Incentive Award by the NFMC. Last year she was awarded a composition commission from MATA, Jr. That ensemble commission, “Pachyderm,” a musical retelling of the fable of the blind men and the elephant, was performed in concert in November 2018. This year, she was selected as a fellow by the Luna Composition Lab, and her Luna commission for piano trio, entitled Sheva, inspired by the story of the days of creation, will be performed at Merkin Concert Hall in May. She also participates in the American Composers Orchestra composition programming.
