Mengyuan Liu started playing the piano at the age of 5. She was a recipient of several awards, including 1st Place in Shandong Province, China, at The 3rd National Youth Piano Competition, Top 10 in Kulangsu International Piano Festival in 2006, Certificate of Excellence (Level 10 for piano) Awarded by Chinese Musicians Association, etc. Along with her musical accomplishments, Mengyuan also excels in academics. She then had to give up on piano lessons and practice due to special situations. When she moved to US, she decided to pick up where she left off with piano after 8 years away from it. She was student of Professor Anna Poklewski in California, and now is pursuing a dual-degree in both piano performance in Professor Gila Goldstein’s studio and pure and applied mathematics at Boston University. She won 1st place at Crescendo International Music Competition & American Protege Piano and Strings Competition and performed at Carnegie Hall in 2019.
