Melody Chang, 16, is a junior at the Orange County School of the Arts in the pianist program (California, USA). She currently studies with Dr. Judy Huang. Most recently, Melody was a recipient of the State Panel Honors award in the MTAC Certificate of Merit Program. Additionally, Melody has won top prizes in the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition, World Piano Teachers Association Finland International Piano Competition, World Bach Competition, American Protegé International Piano and Strings Competition, Satori Young Pianist Grand Prize Competition, OCSA Piano Festival, and Southern California Junior Bach Festival Complete Works Audition. Melody has performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Segerstrom Concert Hall, and she has been invited to play at the American Liszt Society Festival in Los Angeles, California. She has had the privilege of working with world-renowned piano pedagogues, including Jean Yves Thibaudet, Professor Bernadene Blaha, Professor Kevin Fitzgerald, Professor Lucinda Carver, Dr. Sarkis Baltaian, and Professor Jura Margulis in various master classes, and she was a selected participant for the Curtis Young Artists Program this past summer. In addition to her solo performances, Melody enjoys collaborating with other musicians. She was chosen as the pianist for the Irvine Unified School District Honor Orchestra and the All Southern California Honors Orchestra. Aside from piano, Melody is an accomplished violinist and a passionate advocate for girls in STEM & global health issues.
