Joshua attends the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, Texas where he is a student in the vocal program of the music conservatory. He graduates in June 2019 and will begin his classical vocal training at the university level in the fall of 2019. While in high school, Joshua sang in the bass section of the Dallas Opera chorus in its October 2018 production of the Flying Dutchman. He also performed in a number of leading opera and musical theater roles while in high school including Javert in Les Miserables, Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, and Trevor from Thoroughly Modern Millie. Joshua earned a Merit Award in the 2018 YoungArts National Competition in classical voice.
